Asafoetida Essential Oil

Asafoetida Essential Oil (Feaula Asafoetida) is a small plant that grows wild in India. The aromatic gum obtained by incision of the roots of the plant has been popular in India for many centuries as a flavouring agent, as an ingredient in condiments and in many spice mixtures.

It is the volatile oil obtained by steam distillation of asafoetida gum. The oil of asafoetida is mainly used as a flavouring agent in certain delicacies.

It is used as a carminative and stimulant. Being a nervine and pulmonary stimulant this oil is used as an expectorant. Asafoetida oil is also used for intestinal disorders and as a blood purifier.
